12 Days of Blogging Day 6 (Favorite Running Songs of 2012)

My favorite songs/albums to run to in 2012.

Any of the first three tracks of Sleigh Bells' Reign of Terror are just good general, angry music for running... or life.

Alabama Shakes' Boys and Girls is a great running album for an easy, longer run on the beach at sunrise... just upbeat enough to keep you moving.

An old album rediscovered early in the summer this past year; almost all of Archers of Loaf's Icky Mettle is great for single track trail running in Umstead (preferably on an afternoon when it isn't too crowded...)

There's something WRONG WITH MY TOAST...

My "downhill treadmill" training run theme song:  Hot Chip's "Motion Sickness".  Easy to get in rhythm running to this.

It's no Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, but it was good to see the Pumpkins make somewhat of a comeback this year.  Most of the first part of Oceania was pretty solid.

Ok, technically this was from a 2011 album, but this was the song that jumpstarted many of my early morning runs before work around Finley Golf Course training for Ridge to Bridge.  Great buildup and driving beat.

And I usually followed We Were Promised Jetpacks with the two man band Japandroids...

A song for a slow, tough uphill grind.

Or maybe this fits your style better?

(sound familiar?  hint - do you think you're better off alone... do you think you're better off alone...)
